We are a group of people with the same interest – Sugar Art.

The Society is a non-profit organization which formed in November 1990 to promote the art of “cake decorating” to all Victorians.  Today this is a serious business that is and is not merely “cake decorating” -  it has grown up and become an artform in its own right!

The Society is affiliated with the Australian National Cake Decorators' Association Inc and as a member of the Society, you can attend the National Seminar held on a biennial basis around Australia. This affiliation at a National level allows the Society to keep in touch with, and share, the latest hot ideas and innovations available.

Our Members come from all over Victoria and from all levels of experience - Royal Show winners, Shop proprietors and brand new Starters in the Art. Several are National and International demonstrators, teachers and judges. With this kind of input to enjoy, what better way to get you hooked on sugar artistry? 

Our branches have regular workshops, as well as having demonstration days throughout the year - the Calendar of Events page lists the most up-to-date events for each branch.

Our Society branches conduct displays and demonstrations at shopping centres, libraries, craft shows and local Neighbourhood Houses. We also participate in various fundraising activities for our Society.

What about Membership?

Society Membership runs in conjunction with the Financial year - Fees for new members are $37.50 and subsequent fees are $25.00 annually, due 1 July each year and payable 31 July.  Fees for Junior Members under 18 years are $27.00, with subsequent fees of $15.00 annually. New Memberships during the year are available on a pro-rata basis, please ask at the Branch or contact the Secretary via the Contact Us page for details.

Members select a "home" Branch on joining, usually the one you first visited or where your friends already joined. Every Member has the right to visit any Branch's workshop or demonstration and pay the Member entry fee - on average this is a 50% discount (Cost of workshops on application to the Branch holding them). Membership will also entitle you to discounts for special Society events or seminars.

A number of selected Cake Decorating outlets also offer discounts to Members, on presentation of your Membership Card.

The Society publishes its own bulletin which is produced 6 times a year and posted to members as part of your membership. Your Branch may also produce its own newsletter as well.

If you are a keen exhibitor/competitor in local shows or even the Royal Melbourne Show, consider this - our Members have the opportunity to train as Stewards and Judges. Our Grade 1 Judges, judge at a National level following completion of our comprehensive, nationally recognised Training Programme. What better way to learn the tricks and pitfalls than from the inside, from those who know and judge them?
